PE-Design Work

The above pictures relate to the Brother PE-Design Courses as mentioned on the Courses page.

The first five pictures you see above apply to the PE-Design Advanced Course. The procedures for these techniques within the software package are always being improved and made easier, and once you have mastered them,  you will be able to apply them to your own designs.  All the courses will be taken at your own pace so that you fully understand them.  You will be given full instruction notes on everything.

The rest of the pictures show how you can start to develop your creative skills with the aid of PE-Design. Please see my Further Advanced Explorations course. The design possibilities within these packages are vast, and with PE-Design Version 8 and above, you can even do free hand drawing on the screen. All you need is a little imagination and inspiration. If you attend one of these courses, then we can hopefully inspire you to be more creative.

Print and Stitch in PE-Design

Illustrated stages of how to create your own pictures.

1) The first picture shows a photograph that I have manipulated in Paint Shop Pro to provide a background for stitch. However it does not need to be done this way, an ordinary photo would do - there are some samples within Version 8 for you to use.

2) The second picture shows the tool button in Layout & Editing needed to create an area for designing into - (see pencil, closed curve). You can then fill this area with the stitch design of your choice.

3) There are various methods of printing onto fabric and various products available. Click on "File & Print Set Up" and follow the instructions, then use your favourite product to print onto your fabric.  You will also need a print of the background design on paper to enable you to line it up in the embroidery hoop - see fourth picture.

4) Last picture - Finally the finished piece. Having completed the stitching, I decided to lay some organza over the top, stitch round the edge, and cut through to reveal the finished design.

I hope you like this technique. This is just a taster! - you can produce designs like this as well. If you would like to attend my "Further Advanced Explorations" course then please contact me and I will be happy to add you name to the list.

As mentioned before, if you click on each picture you will see an enlarged image, and with some pictures if you click on "view original image" you will see an even closer image, but it doesn't work with all of them. I apologise now for the quality of some of the pictures, my photographic skills still need improving.

Textile Artwork

During 2004 - 2007 I took my City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Design and Craft - Stitched Textiles 7922 (Machine Embroidery) under the brilliant tuition of Gina Ferrari. This was a wonderful experience and I have learnt and enjoyed so many wonderful sewing techniques. I now have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of many of the new products on the market which have been designed to give a varied approach to manipulation of fabric and design.

Since then I have developed these skills in many new ways, and I will be happy to give tuition on some of the techniques I have learnt . Please see the list on my courses page for details.

Here are pictures of some of my City & Guilds work plus further projects undertaken since then.  If you click on each picture you will see an enlarged image and with some pictures if you click on "view original image" you will see an even closer image, but doesn't work with all of them. I apologise now for the quality of some of the pictures, my photographic skills still need improving.

More recently I have developed two full courses:- "Sewing with Metal", and "Beads N'More". Please see my courses page for more details and dates of courses scheduled.
